Position:  Production Scientist
 
Description:

We are looking for a Production Scientist to join our growing team. This individual will jointly work with Swift's Research and Development and reagent manufacturing groups to develop next generation sequencing amplicon panels, a genetic tool to enable the enrichment and sequencing of specific genes. This role will assist in transfer of amplicon panels from Research and Development to Manufacturing, and produce and test reagents in concordance with established procedures. This position reports to the Product Lifecycle Manager.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Interact closely with Research and Development to manufacture and test amplicon panels for beta kits
  • Perform next generation sequencing library preps for both beta panel development and quality control according to defined protocols
  • Coordinate labeling, packaging and shipment of Research and Development beta amplicon panels with logistics
  • Assist in transitioning new amplicon panels to manufacturing
  • Manufacture next generation sequencing amplicon panels according to established procedures
  • Regularly document work in concordance with quality system guidelines
General:
  • Maintain clean room facility and abide by clean room regulations
  • Assist in monthly functional tests of equipment in compliance with the quality system
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and streamline processes
  • Perform other duties as required
Requirements:
  • Excellent molecular biology laboratory skills, including the ability to make solutions and dilutions, dispense liquids into small tubes and/or multi-well plates, understanding of enzymes and oligonucleotides and strong aseptic technique
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment including qPCR systems, thermocyclers, NanoDrop, multichannel pipettes, repeating pipettes, and centrifuges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Highly collaborative attitude and ability to work in a cross-functional setting
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Google Sheets

Educational Requirements:

  • Familiarity with genetics is a bonus

Position:  Manufacturing and Quality Control Specialist
 
Description:

We are looking for a Manufacturing and Quality Control Specialist to join our growing team. This individual will work as a part of the production team, producing and testing next generation sequencing reagents in concordance with established procedures. This position reports to the Product Lifecycle Manager.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture next generation sequencing library kits according to defined protocols
  • Perform next generation sequencing library preps for quality control according to defined protocols
  • Maintain clean room and quality control facilities and equipment
  • Maintain and monitor production freezers
  • Regularly document work in concordance with quality system guidelines
  • Assist Logistics team with movement of product from production to shipping
  • Assist with physical inventory processes
  • Maintain and update reagent and product database
General:
  • Participate in project teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline processes
  • Assist Logistics with product packaging and shipping
  • Assist Research and Development with beta kit builds
  • Perform other duties as required
Requirements:
  • Manual dexterity
  • Excellent laboratory skills, including the ability to accurately measure volumes, weigh solids, make solutions and dilutions and dispense liquids into small tubes and/or multi-well plates
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment including qPCR systems, thermocyclers, gel electrophoresis, NanoDrop, multichannel pipettes, repeating pipettes, and centrifuges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Experience with computers, Excel and Word
